Are oncology nurses subjected to more workplace risk?

I'm wondering if oncology nurses are more susceptible to health risks than other nursing specialties. Is there a greater health risk due to administering chemo or radiation treatments? Especially when pregnant?
Thanks!

If all precautions are taken for the particular chemo that you are administering there should not be any greater health risks for nurses. Some chemo states that if one is pregnant you should not be administering it.

There is thought to be a risk to the baby in the first trimester if unwanted exposure happens with chemo.
As to risks to staff generally, there i don't think are any proven cases of specific poor health effects for those working in chemo areas. However it may be that nobody has looked hard enough for the evidence so far. It certainly should be ensured that all staff take maximum precautions at all times to minimise te risk of exposure to such potentially harmful agents.
