Telephone enquiries?

Posted in Nursing Care about 1 year ago, 2 replies

Our Ward receives many phone calls from the local cancer population seeking advice and help, particularly in relation to post chemo pyrexia.
Does your area offer particular training to nurses in this regard and if so what format does it take? Do you know of any such training?

I would contact your unit educator for such training. If you do not have an educator, your pahrmaceutical rep may be the appropriate contact person, if your hospital allows. You may also want to contact your hospital legal department or risk manager as well as your state licensing board to see what your liability is regarding these patients who are not really your patients but become your patient when they call you for advice and you give it.
